Abstract

A variety of technologies are available to assist in the delivery of distance education courses. Ideally, instructors preparing to engage in distance education will select among educational technologies based on course content and/or pedagogical goals. Unfortunately, empirical literature remains largely inadequate to guide instructors in this selection process. Drawing from over four years of experience in distance education as well as from data addressing the success of distance education strategies, this paper offers suggestions for matching course content, pedagogy, and educational technologies in distance education.
