Abstract

This paper reports on the instructional approach used for the first delivery of a MOOC created to support technology professional development. The purpose of the MOOC was to provide an accessible learning opportunity for teachers, particularly those in developing countries, to expand their knowledge and skills regarding the use of technology-enabled learning. Results of the TEL MOOC evaluation indicate that engaging participants in discussions, resource sharing, and authentic activity plan development support deepened understandings of the use of technology. Based on these preliminary findings participation in this kind of focused MOOC will result in new or more effective technology-enabled learning being designed and delivered by these participants. In practice, the creation and sharing of resources and open educational resources (OER) can have an impact on supporting 21st century learning.
