Abstract

With the popularity of online education, the use of Learning Management System (LMS) is gaining tremendous attention by educators. LMS is known to be able to deliver contents with a variety of formats, such as audio, video, text, photos, and so on. At the same time, it is also found that Limited English Proficiency (LEP) students have to face challenges in their learning in an English as a native language learning environment. Therefore, it is interesting to find out how a LMS can enhance LEP students’ learning. The purpose of this paper is to define what a LMS is, to explore how the tool is used for LEP students, and to discuss the effectiveness of LMS for LEP students. Therefore, the paper will explain what a LMS is first. Then, the author will investigate who are using LMS for LEP students, and finally, the author will discuss how a LMS can be used to increase instructors’ teaching effectiveness of LEP students.
