Abstract

This study represents a work-in-progress for an investigation of how the inquiry method should be used to engage 21st century fluencies; and how wireless handheld devices should be used to support inquiry learning and engagement of 21st century fluencies. The first phase of this study dealt with the design and development of an inquiry lesson which centered on an ill-structured, real-world problem. The inquiry problem developed for this study was titled Introduced Species: The Threat to Biodiversity, and involves outdoor science study. The second phase of this study dealt with design and development of an interactive field manual which will be accessed via handheld device for the outdoor invasive species investigation.
