Abstract

Mobile learning technologies are playing a crucial role in determining children’s capabilities and mastery at an early age in areas such as science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Accessing e-learning materials using handheld devices like smart phones and tablets have the potential to increase children-parents-teachers engagement and add more pedagogical opportunities. The study was conducted with James Madison University and Explore More Discovery Museum, located in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. The main purpose of the study was to integrate science and technology into the educational process by studying the effect of mobile technology at an educational institution such as the Explore More Discovery Museum. In this study, an app was developed as a prototype to be used by patrons of the Explore More Discovery Museum. This app provided children with opportunities to engage with explore more science and technologies prior to and after leaving the museum.
