Abstract

Many teachers teach the way they were taught or how they learned without knowing that there are many different learning theories that explain how learning occurs. Sometime teachers wonder why students do not understand what they thought was so obviously in their minds and so easy for them to comprehend the information presented in their field. For that reason, the main focus of this paper is for teachers who want to understand how learning occurs from the viewpoints of different learning theorists, from mental models, schema theory, performance view, constructivism, social constructivism, andragogy, Connectivism, multiple intelligences, incremental learning, and East-West way of learning. Whatever way teachers want to deliver a course, it is their responsibility to nurture the learners through a learning process in which they seek to evolve.
