Abstract
Advances in mobile technologies predispose the support of learners' and teachers' on the move. As nowadays infrastructure still does not provide cheap 'always on' connection a mobile learning system should offer support for offline usage of learning material. The automatic selection and prefetching of content to be used while disconnected is called hoarding. In a situation where the mobile device limited memory can't hold all available materials, the aim of the hoarding is to predict what the user will need and use. High accuracy of the selection is necessary, as in the learning scenario every miss can lead to student's misunderstanding of the studied subject. Hoarding is still not well explored. We are developing a mobile version of an existing language learning online platform. Our Mobile ELDIT strongly needs a hoarding subsystem. We report the preliminary outcomes of the basic hoarding algorithm and we study the parameters that would improve its work. Our goal is to provide an efficient strategy, taking into account additional parameters automatically extracted by the system.
