Abstract

In this report, we are evaluating the effectiveness of the e-learning videos for a foundation subject which was offered through flipped approach for very large-cohort of 1000+ freshmen from 8 different Engineering diplomas. It is a challenging task to teach these students with secondary school qualification and with a wide spectrum of learning abilities. The e-learning videos were the key delivery tool to the flipped approach. Throughout the semester, data collection through various sources were done. As flipped classroom provides more interaction time with their facilitators, students felt positive about their learning. They were able to learn from the e-learning videos with built-in self-assessments. Analysis of the student engagement with e-learning videos versus the summative assessments showed that the flipped approach may not be suitable for the whole cohort and also not applicable for all the topics. Hence there is a need to go for blended learning.
