Abstract

The present study is an empirical study focuses its attention mainly to examine the image of the administration of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University from the point of view of its inside academic staff working on regular basis. The aspects of study include the awareness of staff of the goals of the University, importance of their work in achieving the goals, the nature of structural arrangement, procedures followed, opinion on working of their branch vis-a-vis the University, opinion on overall performance of the University and the administrative drawbacks of the system and the extent of their desire to stay with the organization. Regarding the image of the branch/unit in particular and the University in general, a large majority of the respondents feel that they are working with an institution which is not so efficient and they came out with a wide range of causes responsible for its inefficiency. The respondents have pointed out a number of structural, functional and behavioural defects in the administrative system
