Abstract

Using Philosophy for Children (P4C) as the context, an online forum was set up where philosophical questions were posed, and students put forth their views and challenged their peers’ views by participating in online discussions. Three groups of students, each comprising 10 high ability males aged between 14 and 15, took part in online discussion. By comparing the mean messages read in each group was computed, and group interviews were conducted to gain insights into the issues faced in reading other students’ messages. Qualitative data from the interviews with one random group of students revealed the need for evaluating the user interface design and instructional interventions to address the issues faced in reading other students’ messages.
