Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of online learning by virtual classroom as a learning space in terms of the four core aspects of a learning environment, namely, Access, Interaction, Response, and Result. A sample of 74 students assessed the virtual classroom with the use of the Web-based Learning Environment Instrument (WEBLEI) (Chang & Fisher, 2003). Data analyses were carried out using percentage, weighted mean, and Pearson’s Product-Moment Correlation. Findings revealed that online learning by virtual classroom as a learning space is very effective. Result of test of correlation revealed that students’ academic performance is not related to their perceived effectiveness of online learning by virtual classroom.
