Abstract
This paper describes a national project in the area of web-based education, which investigated the use and acceptance of a set of internet-based tools that were developed that placed emphasis on teacher-student communication and computer-supported collaborative work. During the course of the project, several unexpected but eventually realistic obstacles were encountered and finally it was concluded that there can be great potential for web-based education in the Cypriot secondary school reality.
