Abstract

The 2016 National Education Technology Plan introduced a call for teacher educators to improve the technology skills of teacher candidates by integrating technology throughout their teacher preparation programs. This necessitates that all teacher educators become competent in technology instruction. As such, the Teacher Educator Technology Competencies (TETCs) were developed (see http://site.aace.org/tetc/). To aid faculty in understanding the TETCs, an online professional development course has been created, which leads to a microcredential in the TETCs. This paper explains the need for the TETCs, the approach to designing this professional learning experience, and introduces the online professional development course.
