Abstract

Modern devices have increasingly grown in complexity and continue to do so. Not only has the complexity of these devices increased but so has the rate of change in designs of these products. Designers who wish to (re) design these devices at this rapid pace continually need to (re) learn how an existing design works. More importantly, they need so be assessed to make sure that they really understand how a device works before they are allowed to make any changes to it. We present a system that uses the naturally occurring by-products of the design process of such devices to automatically generate online-assessments in the form of XML-based QTI format. In this paper we present an assessment engine called AGS that automatically generates summative assessments from by-products of the software design process.
