Abstract
To successfully thrive in an online learning environment, learners must have the basic digital skills, such as the ability to use the computer and navigate the online classroom Before online learners can be expected to perform all the required learning activities, they must first have the fundamental digital skills This study will analyze existing problems distinct to online learners’ digital skills needed for academic success What are the manifestations for lack of digital skills among online learners? What can schools do to ensure that learners are prepared to meet the rigors of online learning? How can educators provide the necessary guidance to learners who may be lacking in digital proficiency? A program should be in place to prepare students and make them digitally ready is imperative to ensure student academic success, improve student retention, increase graduation rates, and prepare learners for the workplace
