Abstract

Recent advances in communication technologies have created video conferencing systems that are efficient, reliable and able to impressively deliver audio and video to any capable point in the world. Unfortunately, not every corner of the world can access a video-conferencing suite, and not every health care organization can afford a suite either. Fortunately, along with the advances in video conferencing, there have also been significant advances in web technologies that can afford much if not all the functionality of a video conferencing suite. Elluminate is one such technology that allows for any individual with a connection to the Internet and a commonly available operating system to access a conference without having to have a system capable of anything more than accessing web based email. The use of such a system will become increasingly important as a means to deliver content to practicing physicians in a manner that they can interact with in an authentic manner.
