Abstract
This paper explored the perspectives, beliefs, and strategies of International Students/Parents (ISP) who have been using educational technology or digital tools for Community Building (CB), strengthening Parent-Teacher Partnership (PTP) and to be involved in their children’s education in U.S. Southwest borderlands. The framework for this study is Epstien’s six types of parental involvement- parenting, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision making, and collaborating with the community. The participants for the study were international students/parents who have their children attending a Pre K-12 school in the Southwest borderlands. This study focused on technology-based strategies to 1) support parents with building parental community and engaging with schools and classrooms, and 2) support schools and teachers to engage international students/parents.
