Abstract

The study examined the perceptions of 22 experienced teacher educators regarding their teaching quality in a special ICT enhanced classroom, designed for teacher training. The goal of the study was to explore experienced teachers ICT-based teaching experience in relation to their perceptions of barriers and facilitators towards teaching in an ICT enhanced environment after a full academic year of using ICT in the classroom. To achieve this we conducted a qualitative analysis of data collected using structured personal interviews. Findings analysis revealed that experienced teachers feel that their own pedagogical and technological knowledge and self-efficacy serve as the major factors facilitating ICT based teaching, whereas lower pedagogical and technological knowledge serve as barriers, suggesting the need for structured professional support for experienced teachers as well and teaching students.
