Abstract
Despite widespread use of computers by teachers outside of the classroom, instructional practices do not always incorporate technology into teaching practices. This underutilization of educational technology is due partly to a lack of understanding and knowledge of instructional integration techniques. It is also assumed that the degree to which students in teacher education programs use technology depends on their prior experience and exposure to technology. Skill training is not enough to prepare student teachers to integrate technology within the curriculum. They also require need to acquire specific ideas and confidence. This paper discusses how scaffolding and modeling techniques in Technology for Educators courses are exhibited to student teachers at the graduate level. Teaching strategies that keep learners interested, motivated, and engaged are also demonstrated. The suggested approaches include goal-setting, adopting learner-centered instructional design, identifying appropriate resources, instructional, and evaluation strategies.
