Using 3D printing for curriculum enhancement

In the last decade 3D printing technology has become increasingly accessible which has also allowed for greater use in educational contexts. Educators need to modernize and adapt the curriculum to better prepare their students for the challenges of a world that is becoming more and more dependent on technology. The current use of 3D printing by teachers supports pedagogical strategies and contributes to the enhancement of the school curriculum. However the use of this technology needs to be expanded. This poster presents examples of how 3D printers are being used in schools. The examples include ideas for how teachers may incorporate 3D technology into their classes, motivate their students and diversify teaching strategies and materials. Recommendations about how to promote the use of 3D printing in the schools are also suggested.
