Abstract
The growth of mobile computing is staggering – from smartphones to tablets, this new generation of wireless networks will continue to expand as consumers use these tools in their everyday lives. This paper is a report on the findings of the first offering of the iPhone Application Development course at Sheridan College, Ontario, Canada. This paper provides an overview of the development environment, an assessment of this new course including qualitative surveys and informal observations. Overall, it was found that the course is timely and students enjoy developing apps for the iOS platform. The course was so successful that an advanced iPhone/iPad course is planned for 2012.
