Abstract
This paper presents the introduction of Universal Design for Learning in the context of emerging innovations in higher education. It examines a plethora of innovations ranging from avatars and augmented reality to virtual reality and wikis and their place in higher education based on the three categories of UDL principles. Included in this paper is a table that displays many innovations that all fall into the UDL multiple means categories. Other tables and charts will be presented at our best practice session that will cover these innovations and more, their UDL categories, examples of their use in higher education, cost of the innovation, and additional resources concerning the innovations.
