Abstract

As tablet and smartphone applications are increasingly utilized within the K-12 classroom, there needs to be a focus on the development of apps to address specific student learning outcomes. Should educators rely on professional app developers to incorporate these outcomes during development, or can educators and instructional technologists develop their own apps? This presentation will look at a brand new course that provides educators with the opportunity to develop a customized app that can be used within the K-12 classroom. The successes, challenges, and future implications will all be explored and shared.
