Abstract
As a computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) tool, computer video conferencing provides increasing opportunities for preservice teachers to share experiences across time and space. This paper describes a Singapore experience in which preservice teachers use multipoint desktop video conferencing (MDVC), including various computer applications such as web pages and video clips, during their teaching practice. The experience provided opportunities for professional development of student teachers by allowing them to share ideas, experiences and teaching resources in real time with an audience wider than the schools where they taught. The paper reports the results of a pre and post survey on the student teachers involved in the video conferencing project and their peers who did not go through such an experience.
