Abstract

The educational system is increasingly challenged by the rapid pace of technological innovations. It is often assume that these technologies can solve problems in traditional education and provide opportunities for new forms of teaching and learning (Smith, 1995). This has given rise to numerous arguments in favour of integrating technologies in teacher education programs. However, disappointing results are often the result of a highly pro-active and technologydriven approach. Media-comparison studies have shown that learning processes are influenced more by the content and the instructional design than by the technology (Clark, 1983). Therefore, more attention should be paid to design aspects, and less to technological aspects.
