Abstract

This paper presents the background and events to date of a continuing case study of a teacher adapting to social media, from the point of view of the online teacher. It describes the ongoing challenges of using now ‘traditional’ threaded discussion boards, and details events leading to a simultaneous design experiment conducting an instructional activity in the traditional threaded discussion and a social media platform. It further describes how this experiment has led to trialing full scale teaching in multiple units of study supported only by the social media platform. Observations and reflections are drawn from the case experience
