Abstract
This presentation describes an initiative by the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge to develop a First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Curriculum Collection that incorporates FNMI content across subjects and grades levels. There have been many recent initiatives by ministry's of education to encourage teachers to incorporate First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) perspectives into the curriculum. Many of these initiatives have provided rhetoric and rationale but lacked pragmatic resources to help teachers address this issue in their classrooms. The Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge, identified this gap in pragmatic ideas and created an online database of resources and lesson plans that will give teachers ideas and background for infusing indigenous content into the curriculum. This presentation will provide a description of the collection, demonstrate how to access and use it, as well as encourage educators to contribute to it.
