Abstract

The goal of this project is to develop an e-learning training program for diversity awareness. Research by Scardamalia and Breiter on knowledge building and Oliver and Herrington on an instructional design framework for authentic learning environments is being used to structure the design. This paper presents the design concept for the e-learning environment that will be housed in a flash interface. Avatars will be used to build a collaborative environment, interacting with the learner as they work to solve problems presented in authentic scenarios.
