Abstract

First-year experience (FYE) has been a focus of university education, and the importance of experiential learning has been emphasized to elicit students’ positive response and independent efforts in learning. To achieve effective experiential learning, we have used the campus social networking service (SNS). It is difficult to research past data in SNS accumulated by two or more users; however, students have posted information regarding their activities, and this information was useful for improving experiential learning. So, in this research, we propose an interface to visualize these students’ diaries, aiming at promoting reflection and enabling following-year students to use them as an information resource in their learning. In this paper, we will describe the system’s design and the results of a preliminary experiment on the fundamental function of the proposed system.
