Abstract

Given current local and global initiatives to encourage more effective use of information and communication technology in educational purposes, it is timely to examine some aspiring ongoing and future plans on the field. School of Ritaharju in Oulu, Finland, was selected to be one of the 12 Future Schools in Microsoft's international Innovative Schools program. This study examined several technology based projects that will form a basis for the future schools. Use of sophisticated mobile phones, GPS, net-based learning games, and radio frequency identification (RFID) are examples of technological solutions explored on projects under concern.
