Abstract

Most educators of young children are familiar with storytelling and believe storytelling is a critical component of their instruction. In deed, many early childhood educators and researchers advocate that storytelling can contribute significantly to early literacy development (Mallan, 1991; Jennings. 1991: Cooper, Collins & Saxby, 1992; Glazer & Burke, 1994). A new twist on this ancient art has emerged-the art of digital storytelling. This session considers preparing early childhood teachers to use digital storytelling as a tool for developing children's literacy skills.
