Abstract

This paper provides an overview of best practices and methods for middle and high school teachers successfully conducting rocket launches with their students. Rocketry offers a way to demonstrate integration of a variety of STEM discipline in a framework that will capture the attention of students and excite their curiosity. Rockets are classified based on their method of propulsion. Examples of several different hands-on rocket activities are described for demonstrating physical science concepts. These rocket activities align to South Dakota Science Standards.
