Abstract

The ability to model and apply technology standards has been outlined by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as a vital skill for teacher candidates to possess before they enter the field. It follows that teacher preparation programs must prepare their teacher educators to address the necessary skills and knowledge related to technology use and integration within course and field work. There are currently no instruments that directly measure how often teacher candidates model and apply the 2017 ISTE Standards for Educators in teacher preparation programs in the United States. This not only results in a lack of data regarding the ability of a teacher preparation program to meet CAEP standard 1.5, but ultimately results in a lack of data regarding teacher educator technology preparation. This study involved a two-phase research design that included using Delphi technique and a pilot study to develop a sufficiently valid and reliable instrument, the Teacher Preparation Technology Inventory (TPTI).
