Abstract
We report on experiences with a software-engineering technique, scenario-based design, in a prototype authoring support environment. Scenario-based design has been shown to provide an effective method to explore, refine and communicate user-centered designs for interactive software systems. We demonstrate that these benefits can be achieved for the design of interactive learning environments, in which scenario-based tools can draw on both user-centered design approaches and the variety of educational theories available to support the design of instructional software.
