Abstract

Online learning places additional demands on learners, requiring a different kind of support. This paper reports on a design-based research approach to developing a framework aimed at providing secondary students involved in online learning with the support they need to be successful. This framework has been informed by current theories and frameworks for best practice in distance and online education at both the higher education and school sectors. The paper will report on both the development of the framework and the results of evaluations of its effectiveness.
