Abstract

The study at the center of this presentation explores the use of an interactive, digital pedagogical tool for teaching concepts related to Behaviorism in an introductory Educational Psychology course. This course does not have a field placement component; students were unable to experience how theories could be executed in classroom practice. To address this issue, our team created the interactive case-based online simulation as a tool to supplement traditional instruction. The resulting intervention provides an opportunity for practical application of Educational Psychology concepts to undergraduate Teacher Education students. This presentation focuses on the design of the tool and highlights the aspects of the interactive case-based simulation that could be useful when an experiential field placement is not possible.
