Abstract
This paper will discuss the US shortage of underrepresented groups in the STEM fields as well as current barriers to the participation of African Americans, Latinos, and women. Culturally responsive teaching practices to increase participation will be presented, and the concept of culturally responsive technologies as a strategy to increase participation will be introduced.
