Abstract

Academic institutions recognize the importance of providing student support services to traditional campus-based students, but the most effective and efficient approaches to providing these services to online learners are not always clear. If an institution is enrolling students in online degree programs, it is imperative to provide those students with services of equal quality to those offered to campus based students. Otherwise, these online students cannot be expected to succeed at the same rate as the campus students. This presentation will demonstrate the collaborative efforts from a University Center for eLearning Student Support team in developing an effective model for student support outside of the online learning management classroom. This presentation will also showcase the strategies used to sustain the support systems to enhance the online student experience in meeting their educational goals and promoting persistence through this comprehensive online student supports.
