Abstract

This paper describes the development of exemplars that not only use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) but also demonstrate sound pedagogical principles for learning. Although 24,000 students and 1,035 academics are registered and using the online Learning Management System (LMS) at the University, a series of interviews with 40 academic leaders at the University found there was a need for a more fundamental understanding of how best to use ICT to enhance the learning experience without necessarily increasing the total time spent in teaching. The rationale for using these exemplars in an academic mentoring program aimed to improve the ICT knowledge and skills of academic staff is also discussed.
