Abstract
There is a high demand for spoken Japanese learning, especially among foreign Japanese learners of intermediate to advanced level. This paper examines what is essential to learn spoken Japanese. According to this examination, we developed a video-on-demand learning assistance system and had it tested by 15 international students at Waseda and Keio Universities. The trial results suggested that the students thought it useful as a tool to learn spoken language and t also could help understand Japanese culture. The system is available on http://shushoku.narita.elec.waseda.ac.jp , with UserID: gEDMEDIA2003 h and Password: hEDMEDIA2003 h.
