Virtual Reality Modeling in Science

Two ongoing virtual reality modeling projects at the Learning and Performance Support Laboratory (LPSL) are presented. The Virtual Solar System (VSS) and the Virtual Gorilla (VGOR) projects emphasize teaching and learning through a new pedagogical approach (modeling-based inquiry). Both projects make use of three-dimensional modeling software that allows students to learn about topics that would otherwise be difficult, if not impossible to learn through physical inquiry.
