Teaching some courses in an online environment presents a special challenge, especially mathematics courses for undergraduates. While it was not written specifically for mathematics and has no direct MathML capability, we have found ViewletBuilder 3 from Qarbon (http://www.qarbon.com) to be an especially useful tool in creating interactive step-by-step demonstrations of problem solutions. This software allows the author to create professional Flash animations through easy step-by-step procedures. The only requirements for using ViewletBuilder are an understanding of basic computer skills. This session will include a discussion and demonstration of creating a viewlet, examples of viewlets we use in online mathematics courses, and an opportunity for participants to use ViewletBuilder 3.
