Abstract

This poster presentation will introduce the use of STEM content transmedia books for k-2 curriculum. The book "Jasmine Jumps on Board" (working title) follows the journey of Jasmine as she is introduced to STEM vocabulary and concepts. Through her interest in trains Jasmine learns about colors, shapes and how the two are used to create buildings and other structures in her immediate and global community. Through a transmedia book, Jasmine works with a two-dimensional cutter and a three dimensional printer to learn about two and three shapes and how to construct objects. Possible career opportunities involving engineering and other STEM related field are introduced.
