Abstract

The development of an educationally valuable virtual field trip (VFT) can be a resource-intensive undertaking. This poster investigates the added value of VFTs in general and in particular with reference to the development of an educational VFT in volcanology. It contains a comparison of VFTs to 'real' field trips and provides a brief overview of what existing VFTs offer. The case study focuses on the challenges faced when developing an educational VFT and outlines the approaches taken to overcome these problems.
