Abstract
The frequency of technology integration, and more specifically online video integration (ie Youtube), in science education courses continues to increase. Many studies suggest that incorporating elements of selected videos into science lessons increases student engagement and interest. Modeling inquiry-based science lessons using these videos has demonstrated an increase in preservice teachers’ awareness of appropriate technology integration. The purpose of this research study is to use select Youtube videos as a context for authentic and inquiry based activities for preservice science teachers aimed towards developing greater awareness of the TPACK tenets. Data will be collected through the administration of the Survey of Preservice Teachers' Knowledge of Teaching and Technology as a pre-test and post-test to a senior years science methods course. Implications of this study will influence the movement of preservice teachers from the novice to expert position on the integration of technology in science education continuum.
