Abstract
This paper investigates students' interaction and learning experiences in an online course through WebCT. The effectiveness of interaction and communication between students and instructor and among students is very important in making the online course successful. However, students have different perspectives in what makes their best interaction and communication because of their personality and learning styles. Communication tools used in this online course were threaded discussions, chat rooms, and emails in WebCT. The author will illustrate the strong and weak points of each tool through her own teaching experience and her students' learning experiences. This paper will also discuss the problems that existed in the class and students' feeling about them. The researcher will provide a clear description of the communication tools used, strategies and techniques for promoting students' interaction and communication, and the students' previous online learning experiences. Data collected through participant observation, students' reflections, and their postings.
