Abstract
Digital texts have become common in educational contexts, making effective screen reading crucial. This paper reviews research on the presentation of digital text, including a detailed review of the factors affecting reading. It also summarizes research conducted by the authors on reader preferences and performance when learning from digital text. Based on the findings, the authors conclude that since one mode of screen presentation does not seem to fit all readers and purposes, a variety of modes should be made available, and text display customization should be allowed.
