Abstract

The Adult Basic Skills Professional Development Project (ABSPD) is a collaborative effort between the North Carolina Community College System and Appalachian State University. ABSPD is committed to enhancing the quality of Basic Skills instruction in North Carolina through providing relevant, timely, accessible, and effective professional development for program faculty and volunteers, create a cadre of Certified Resource Specialists, and develop better instructional skills for the classroom in community colleges and community-based literacy organizations. ABSPD accomplishes this mission by using a team approach to produce multi-media train-the-trainer materials and workshops to build a successful learning community. The presentation will model the teaming approach used to produce training materials. Samples of project media will be featured.
