Discusses the need for quality instructional images in a networked environment and presents strategies for maximizing the effectiveness of visuals for instruction in distance education. Topics include the instructional value of images; types of network technologies; bandwidth constraints in televised instruction, computer-based instruction, and Web-based instruction; and parsing strategies.
