Abstract

The “Confronting Hypertext” Project is a collaborative effort designed to systematically investigate learning outcomes using exclusively hypertext-based instruction delivered via the Internet. While many are developing digital coursework and deploying these courses via the Internet, few are attempting to carefully investigate the reception of these courses by students. And even fewer are developing such coursework in the context of serious and ongoing research designed to compare learning outcomes generated by the various media. This study is designed to suggest ways in which we might map the reaction of students in different professional programs to hypertext pedagogy.
